It is estimated that Design-Build brings savings of 20-25% to a project. Rather than go through the costly bid method, Design-Build permits the design team and construction team to have a true and complete understanding of each other’s expertise, therefore eliminating time and money for unnecessary drawings and details. In many cases the footings can begin before the plans are finalized, saving valuable time. |

Through teamwork, the cost of the project is known at each phase of the design process, which allows for owners to monitor costs vs. budget. In addition, the owner can make decisions where dollars are to be spent, even while the project is still being designed. Using the bid method, an owner will not know exactly what the costs are until the bids are received. So, if the project is over budget, not only will the owner have to pay the architect to redesign the plans and specifications so that the project can be built within their budget, the owner has lost a great deal of time and money in the process. |
